When is the best time for kiteboarding in Tulum?
The wind season at the Riviera Maya goes from November until May thats exactly when the time when there is no raining season. For those who like stronger winds and waves the best time is from January until March. Wind season starts mainly with the first Norte then wind turns and blows most from northeast (sideshore and side on). In between November and Februar we have some cold Nortes (off shore) where we do day trips to other spots.
In February the first southwind (onshore, side on) comes and brings a warm breeze and big waves. This is my favorite time of the year, when it gets a bit wild on the water.
What do I need to bring?
No worries about the water temperature, as the Caribbean is most time of the year warm, that you dont need any kind of wetsuit. Only on a cloudy day, it can be a bit freezy where a shorty keeps you warm. We recommend to bring kite from 8 to 15m depending on month and forecast.
